The policy was withdrawn a week after internal complaints were raised because PNUDY strengthened the regulation of eating in the club room.

PNUDY (PNU Club Association) recommended restraining from eating in the club room on September 15th, according to an official document about the eating policy from the Office of Student Affairs. They announced, “You must follow this policy because it is the government’s guideline,” in the club steering committee group chat room after they caught 11 cases of eating in the club room in a week.

Club members felt sorry for the policy conflicting with the present, in which regulations are relaxed as eating at the theater or market is possible again. We can easily see that people eat indoors on campus already. Kim Yong-Woo (Dept. of Oceanography, 21), the president of the club “Badasaram,” said, “If COVID-19 patients occur, PNUDY will be responsible for that. I am inconvenienced by this lasting circumstance that we cannot eat in the club room only.”

In particular, in the case of the Student Union Building, where club rooms are gathered, it does not provide dinner, and the convenience store nearby is closed at 4 PM. Therefore, students have problems with eating dinner. Seo Ji-Young (Dept. of Biological Sciences, 22), a member of the UCDC club, said, “We need to get a meal around the building because club training time is till late. I think there should be some alternatives such as the unmanned convenience store, running for 24 hours.”

Two days after newsgathering, PNUDY revealed that they had withdrawn the ban on eating in the club room in the central club chat room. PNUDY said, “We got a message that eating indoors is possible from the Office of Student Affairs today (September 22th). We were embarrassed because we received the reply that eating is impossible from the Office of Student Affairs when we asked in April and June.”
