The main point of this remodeling, which required almost three billion won with building fees and equipment fees, and so on, is “the space innovation reflecting the use patterns of library users.” As students, who are the library’s primary users, prefer a mood like a cafe, the first-floor space is decorated with “Learning-Commons” like a cafe. At the request of the students who are the digital native generation, the existing computer usage space is changed into a vastly expanded “In(人)novation park.”

Breaking away from the existing open structure, "Learning-Commons” are placed with window view reading seat, sofa seats and so forth, and decorated with the mood like a cafe after being installed with planterior and warm color lighting. Park Yong-Woo (17, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering) said, “I thought the university facilities were conservative. However, through recently processed remodeling, they have the taste of today’s generation.” and was satisfied with the changed mood.

In the “In(人)novation park,” brand-new digital facilities are greatly expanded. They are arranged with a souped-up seat allocation system using a new app, a group study room with an electronic blackboard, smart TV with OTT service, small studio and editing facilities for media production, and so on. Jeon Tae-Gyeng, (Manager, Planning and PR team of Library) explained, “We reflected diverse learning tastes, adjusting to the changed requests of the students of the digital native generation.”

During this remodeling, the library drew attention by reflecting on the students’ opinions. With the library demand satisfaction survey, they pushed forward facilities establishment, including a group study room and they considered the needs and tastes of students from the Equipment Purchasing Committee, such as purchasing furniture, interior design concept, and so on. Seol Mun-Won (Director, PNU Library) said,” The SeaByeokBeol Library is entirely changed for only students’ spaces. If students didn’t carve out their time, to make better a library, we couldn’t reflect the needs of students.”
