On March 30th, 2021, the Emergency Measure Committee announced that it opened an expanded Central Operating Committee composed of a student council of every department on March 29th and elected the following committee chairman.

The 2021 Emergency Measure Committee decided to continue its operation and form again as the 54th election for General Students’ Association chairman fell through. There were no registered candidates for the by-election. It is a measure under Article 35 of the Student Council Rule, “When all the chairman and vice-chairman of the General Students’ Association are vacated, one of the Central Operating Committee acts on behalf of their duties and authority. Then, he or she will be approved by the regular general meeting of the Congress of Deputies.”On March 29th, after the departments’ by-election and the term of the current chairman of Emergency Measure Committee was over, the Committee opened Central Operating Committee.

Starting from March 30th, the new Emergency Measure Committee will take responsibility for the duties of the General Students’ Association until the new General Students’ Association is being formed. A newly elected chairman of the Emergency Measure Committee, Jung said, “I didn’t see this coming. It took me a long time to decide, but I made this choice with the expectation that I could change and offer more to students than as a chairman of the College of Economics and International Trade. I will do my best to make up the group as soon as possible and activate autonomous students’ activities.”

Meanwhile, the Central Operating Committee consists of the president and vice-chairman of the General Students’ Association, the president of each college and independent department, and the chairman of the Club Association. In this decision, 22 among 33 members agreed, one abstained, and 11 did not respond.

Former chairman of the Emergency Measure Committee, Kang Gun-Wuk (18, Dept. of Business Administration), said, “I made a lot of efforts for students, but there was a shortage. I will execute my responsibilities in another position. I hope the new chairman of the Emergency Measure Committee will lead the General Students’ Association well until the next election.”

The election for 54th General Students’ Association that will lead the 2023 Student Council will be held this November.
